BBC2 transmits mostly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
BBC Television was the world's first regular high definition television service which began on November 2nd 1936 from Alexandra Palace, London.
BBC2 was launched in 1964, with the rather quirky symbol of Hullaboo and Custard - a kangaroo and its baby. In 1949 the BBC acquired 13.5 acres on the Shepherds Bush site of the Franco-British Exhibition of 1908 for their new Television Centre.

- Richard Hammond's Blast Lab started at 8:30am
- Science game show. Two teams of contestants compete to win a wheelbarrow-load of prizes. They will need to use all their powers of reason and logic as they answer questions, perform scientific experiments, predict the outcome of jaw-dropping stunts and battle to win prizes in a furiously messy final game. The theme is the strength of structures and weight distribution. In the Blast Lab, the two teams go surfing, but there are no waves, just cardboard tubes. Meanwhile, at Richard's secret test facility the Lab Rats are attempting to build a bridge out of paper. Will it work or will it end in disaster?
