One of the programme categories that very much, for me, typifies what television entertainment is all about. I can remember many evenings, usually early in the week, sitting through many an episode of Doctor in the House and Steptoe and Son whilst my mum did the ironing.
Formulas have differed little over the ages, stars have come and gone, been made, and sadly passed away. Such superb English icons as Terry Scott, Sid James and Leonard Rossiter to name but a few.
